Missionaries + Members = MIRACLES!

Olaaaá!   Wow ,another week has gone by!  Cannot believe it! This week was soooo much better than last!  The work we did this week was completely different and I have been able to see the Lord's hand! My companion and I have felt that we have needed to work with the members more.  So we have gone through lists with all the sisters in the ward asking if we could call to get to know them and their families and then share a message. Our message is from Alma 50:1-4 which talks about how Moroni fortifies the land of the Nephites, building timbers to protect them from the Lamanites.  We talk about how, while we aren't in a physical war, sometimes we are in a spiritual war and how we need to have strong timbers to protect us.  The timbers in a spiritual sense are the little things that we do each day...saying our prayers, studying the scriptures, listening to the words of the prophets, etc.   So we ask the members to pray together and think a...

Oiiii gente!! Wow another week has gone by!  This week was hard, not going to lie.  We have had tons of struggles with our contacting both online and on the streets. We had tons of people hang up on us or on the streets people will quickly go back into their houses so they avoid talking to us.  We don't get very many contacts but my companion and I remind each other to just keep going.  We also have to remind ourselves that we are doing the Lord's work!! I do have a couple stories from street contacting this week!  One day this week we walked about 30ish minutes away from the church.  We had talked to a few people, but there honestly isn't a lot of people on the streets.  We had talked to this really nice couple for about 10 minutes.  And after that we started to head back to the church. We had stopped at this little corner store and were talking to some of the workers.  After talking for a couple of minutes, we decided to buy somethin...

Olá genteeee!! This week was went by INSANELY fast! I don't have a ton of time so this week, so this email is going to be short.  Not a bunch of work got done this week because of a few things. On, last thursday I took a trip to São Paulo!!  We left at 1:30 in the morning and got back to the mission at about 2 PM.  So I was only in São Paulo for about 3ish hours haha.  I was with one other Sister and an Elder.  I slept for most of the way which was nice but it was still super tiring. I tried coxinhas (I think that is how you spell it haha) for the first time and oh my goodness they are absolutely AMAZING!! Then today was transfers.  I HAVE MADE IT THROUGH THE TRANSFER!!  Can you believe it?!   My companion is going home which means I got a new one!  Her name is Sister Tegerdine and she is absolutely AMAZING!  I have only been with her for a couple of hours but I know she is going to help me out a lot more with the work! So wi...

Choose to be Happy!

Oiii gente! This week went by so fast! This last week was full of trainings with our mission president and his wife.  Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday we had trainings.  It almost felt like I was back in the home mtc doing classes on zoom again haha. I couldn't understand much, only a little bit.  But from what I could understand, I learned about becoming an effective missionary and learned about repentance. My week, I felt like, was centered around repentance.  It started with my parent's emails to me.  During their stake conference, they had Elder Mike Jones there, and he said that "repentance begins when our behavior changes."  (Thanks dad for sending me this in your email!)  Looking back, this line had set the mood for the rest of the week.   Also, during one of our trainings, my mission president talked about how we need to have faith to repent.  True repentance cannot be done without faith in Jesus Christ and faith in the power of Chr...

WE SET A BAPTISM DATE!

Olá amigos e família!! Another week here in Brazil! On Wednesday we were on splits with the sister training leaders -- who were actually my first 2 companions when I got here to the mission.  They both came to our area so it was fun to have them for the day! I was with Sister Alves and she taught me more about interacting with the people we teach and getting to know them more.  It was a little bit hard doing this because I couldn't understand their responses most of the time.  But it gave me some practice. With that, I feel that sometimes I can speak the language pretty well, and I pick up on a few more things but for the most part, it is still a big struggle for me.  This week especially I had a hard time understanding people.  The beginning of the week was the hardest but it got a bit better by the weekend.  Sunday we got to go to two of our investigators houses.  The first was Lidia, Laurindo, and Wellington.  We read the Book of Mormon ...
